      In two separate and unrelated documents, I found today that the translators (certified, as were the editors) had rendered “prescription” as “prescribed medication.” A word of caution for U.S. medical translations: “prescription” can refer to things other than medication. For example, individuals may need a prescription for durable medical equipment, physical therapy or hospice services. If the context is not explicit, it is best to translate “prescription” as “prescription” OR ask your client for clarification.
