Description: This interview provides an overview of domestic violence, services that are offered and guidelines for on-site or remote interpreters working with individuals or families at counseling sessions or crisis shelters. The special communication goals of the mental health therapist are highlighted, as well as the ways in which client confidentiality and safety must be assured. Terminology is reviewed and available in the corresponding online medical glossary. The roles and ethics of professional medical interpreters are reviewed and supported in context.
